Too Big

Once upon a time, there was a princess whose heart was too big for her body. Because of the unusual size of her organ, she was loved by everyone she met.

Once upon the same time, there was an evil king, in the kingdom neighboring the princess. Some people said the king was evil because he had a heart made of squid ink, dark and black. Others said his heart had been stolen by gypsies when he was a young prince. And even more said he never had a heart at all. This, of course, was not true. The king did, indeed, have a heart. Though it was hard and stiff from disuse.

The king had heard of the princess, and how everyone in her kingdom loved her. He heard this through his servants, who also loved the princess. No one in the king's kingdom loved him. Not even his own queen. Hearing of the love for this princess made the king curious. Why did this princess have so much power over everyone? He had to travel to see her to find out.

In the middle of the night he snuck into her castle. There were no guards, after all, as beloved as she was, who would do her harm? He crept through the hallways and into her tower. The king slithered into her bedroom and spied her asleep in bed.

Had anyone else seen her lying there so peacefully, they would have frozen all negative thoughts from their mind and walked away. Never to hurt another soul. But the king's heart was so dark and motionless that the warm aura around her did nothing but anger him.

The king had broken into the princess' castle to steal her away, throw her into his dungeon. He would interrogate and torture her until she gave him the secret of her power. That's what he had planned.

Looking at the princess erased his plan. The longer he stood looking at her, the more the anger grew. Furious and full of lunacy, the king reached out to the bedpost closest to him. Twisting and pulling at the wood under his hands, he ripped the post off the bed with a hard crack.

The princess woke up screaming. Pain seared through her body and blood poured from her scalp. The silhouette of her attacker, all she could see. Blindly, she reached out at it, pulling with all her might at what appeared to be the shadows chest. Her attacker flew at her, as she pulled, hitting his head on the wall behind her.

The king was unconscious. Lying on top of the princess. The princess rolled him off of her, to one side of the bed. Looking at his face, she traced her hand along his jawline, gazing at him almost lovingly. She let her fingers continue on to his neck and where his shirt separated his neck and shoulders. Using both hands she tore his shirt open. The princess turned away from his chest to reach out to the nightstand by the other side of the bed. She opened the top drawer of the nightstand, and pulled a silver blade out from it. Looking back at the king's chest she got to work.
Once upon a time, there was a princess whose heart was too big for her body. The princess was loved by everyone she met. Even if they didn't, they soon found a place in their hearts for her. Just like she found a place for their hearts in her.
